I took a look at the Sunday paper yesterday, and was stricken by something I saw in a print ad. At this point, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would say, "oh there goes Ken again...I think this guy's wrapped a little too tightly." Well, I'll describe it to you without comment, and you be the judge. It was a J.C. Penney ad for a jewelry sale. In the upper left corner, there was a representation of a gift tag, which said, "joy of giving." So far, so good. Right beneath it was the part that got my attention (and my wife's as well). The ad featured a couple of twenty-somethings - a pretty woman wearing gold earrings and a gold pendant (and of course, the obligatory black dress with a bit of cleavage) smiled downward on a man. The man gazed up at her admiringly. Not anything out of the ordinary so far, yes? Here's the kicker: in the upper right corner of the picture directly over the man's head was a depiction of a gold bar. On the bar was inscribed "only GOLD demands worship." Now if there had only been a typo, and they had left out the "L".......
Isaiah 42:8 (NET) says: "I am the Lord! That is my name! I will not share my glory with anyone else, or the praise due me with idols."
Hey, I'm just sayin'...think about it.
