And now, a word from...

"Salvation is from our side a choice; from the divine side it is a seizing upon, an apprehending, a conquest by the Most High God. Our accepting and willing are reactions rather than actions."

Could you be "recalled?"

Recently, I saw one of those "wayside pulpit" messages outside a Methodist church. It said, "Live well-your car is not the only thing that can be recalled." This appeared to me to be a reference to the "sin leading to death" spoken of in the Bible. It is noted in 1 John 5:16,17(ESV):

"If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death."

Sometimes even saved people can get off the track, and live a life so out of fellowship with God that he "recalls" them. Why? Because they have become useless to Him. Their life is so counter-productive (and perhaps even harmful to the Christian walk of others), that He decides it's better to call them home. So the death spoken of here is physical, not spiritual death. In spite of the fact that believers are eternally secure, it is still possible for them to be so backslidden that they become virtually useless in their Christian walk. Be vigilant...don't let that happen to you!
